I bought this product so I could trust that it would turn mybpool pump on and off during the day. It worked well while I was ok vaca. But within a week after getting back...I noticed it wasn't keeping time correctly as it lagged behind. I had to keep going out to the pump to manually turn it on and reset the clock on it. The time keeping mechanism stopped working altogether. I will purchase a much better product for next pool season. For now, I will march my butt out to the pool to manually turn the pump on and off. Very dissatisfied with this product!I gave this a 4 Star rating only because the first shipment arrived with a damaged timer. But that was not Amazon's fault. It appeared to be that way from the factory since the packaging was completely intact and the item did not look to be something that was returned by some previous customer.Product reviewSuper simple and easy to setup uses. Uses all standard plugs which makes it very easy to hookup. I had to mount it outside on a brick wall so other than my cordless drill, a masonry drill bit and concrete anchor screw, it was a cinch. It only has a single mounting hook on the back top which makes it a bit wobbly on the wall so Intermatic should really design it with two mounting points. There is a lower mounting point as well but it's blocked partially so it's just not a good design. However, that's a minor detail as the unit performs as stated. As far as all the low ratings due to "melted plugs" I have not had that and it makes me wonder if those seeing that did not heed the current/power rating for the unit. The unit can only handle 15A max at full motor load (when running a pool or fountain pump). If your pump draws more than 15A during normal steady-state operation, then you CAN'T use this particular timer switch. If you don't understand what I'm saying, then you should call an electrician to do a proper hookup.Packaging/Customer Service -Amazon is AWESOME!!! As I stated in the beginning, the first unit came damaged. I immediately when online, filled out the return form for a replacement and sent back the old unit (did a UPS drop off at the UPS store in town). It was amazing in that I got the replacement unit less than 24Hrs later!!! Now I realize that Amazon can do that kind of turn-around if you happen to be close to one of their distribution centers, but it was so easy to return and get the replacement that Amazon has my full appreciation.Simple and mechanical. After a power failure it just restarts with the time shifter by how long it was off. No electronic re-setup needed. I LIKE THAT.Used to cycle a pond pump on and off.We have had our pool for 2 years and are now on our 3rd timer. We’ve purchased 2 of these and they both quit in under a year. The most recent one only lasted 4 months. We’re switching to a less expensive, digital timer for our next one. If it dies in 4 months, at least I’m only out $15.Had I known this was not the twist lock version, I wouldn’t have bought it. The second picture down clearly shows the twist lock version. Now I have to return this, and get charged $5 just to ship it cuz God forbid the company eat the shipping cost. And then I have to order the right one. The one that cost $20 more. It wouldn’t be so bad if these things didn’t break after one year. This product worked fine at first. We have taken care of it and we are on about the 5th month of (non-consecutive) use and it just stopped. Seller contact is a joke- it’s an automated response. We won’t get a replacement or refund and basically overpaid for something that no longer works in less than 6 months of use.I bought the Intermatic P1101 Plug-in Timer, Black on July 24th, and it is now August 28th - it already stopped working. The gear seized up.I purchased this pool timer from Amazon less than two months ago. I had a Hayward pool pump that met the timer specifications connected to it. The timer failed today at about six weeks of operation. I opened the enclosure after the failure to discover that the wiring had melted down as per the attached picture. I am grateful that the wiring was enclosed and it didn’t set fire to any nearby combustibles. This hazardous situation is dangerous and completely unacceptable. I am hoping that someone from either the manufacturer or Amazon follows up with me concerning this review.Bon produit.Ninja shipping and good product.
