When you twist the knob, it completes the circuits, slowly unwinds, then breaks the circuits... this met my criteria at the lowest cost. It's very cheaply made (anything that could be plastic is plastic, including the wall plate), cannot be manually twisted back to the off position, and seems to unwind more quickly than the markings indicate (10 minutes seems more like 7 minutes, though I have not verified this). I rigged up a simple 12V lighting system in my detached garage, and this makes sure no one leaves the light on and kills the battery.I fill my backyard pond from my pool, and have a nice little submersible pump to do it. Trouble is, I would start it and then forget it was on until the pond was overflowing. I built a little box, now i just set the pump for twenty minutes, and don't need to remember to run out and turn it off. So, i guess it works great fro the forgetful amongst us. If only I could remember where I set my car keys down, I would be all set.Although on the website the cover plate for this timer APPEARED to be metal (which is what I desperately wanted), it is sadly, like most everything else today, plastic. However, it does achieve a "metal look" and I love the ways it's working so far. Last, I did notice that there was no ground on the wiring, which seems a bit strange by today's standards. All was great except for the white timer rheostat. It was slightly damaged with some greasy spots that mostly came out with vigorous cleaning. Even though the bag holding the rheostat was sealed, I don't think it was unopened new. Maybe it was a return? Physical operation of the timer was good.Just right for our hot tubWorks well. Timer calibration is not accurate but gets the job done. a lil too loud click noise.I put this on the gas fire-place switch so kids dont turn it on and forget about it. It done its job.For the project I was using this product for was a perfect fit. Easy to install. The plates are plastic and not brushed metal as advertised and they are made in Tunischa. They were installed and work ok. We will see if they last as long as the original Intermatic timers. Not even installed it yet, just tested it to see how much noise it would make.Very fragile plastic used for the turn switch, it is broken. My local hardware store sells one for half the price ! Definitly a don’t buy.I use this product to replace my jacuzzi timer and it's exactly what I'm looking for.Nothing fancy but works well. Thanks!
