This replacement part for the timer on the dryer works perfectly. It takes just a few screws to access the panel and then just take one wire off at a time and add to the replacement part one by one. (make sure to unplug the electricity). Took 5 minutes and I'm a hero with the spouse. Before you buy this part, consider buying the knob first as one time I replaced the timer and it was the broken knob. In 14 years I've replaced the knob 2-3 times and the timer twice. Much better than replacing the entire dryer with the new units they sell that don't last! Last piece of advice, make sure you turn the timer knob clockwise only. It will last longer.My dryer is over 10 years old. I changed the belt on the drum last summer when it broke. The next issue was the timer knob was stripped down to the nub from using pliers way too often. I decided to fix the know only to find that the whole timer had to be replaced. After checking out a few You Tube videos to get some ideas I order the the timer and installed it. The dryer has not missed a beat in the 6 months since installing the new timer.Relatively easy. Make sure to open the back and order EXACTLY the right replacement. Make sure to switch wires one at a time to the new unit...or take some photos before. Seems nobody can decide which way to turn the dial....I guess whichever is easier. For now I'll go clockwise. As others have mentioned on here, it's actually a pretty easy job to change out the timer. Just make sure to move one wire at a time from your old timer to the new timer so that you don't get them mixed up and have to refer to a wiring diagram. We needed to change ours for the same reason as a lot of other people on here. Our old one got hard to turn and we rounded the post off as we kept replacing knobs on it. I had been operating our dryer with a pair of pliers for a while now, and that wasn't going to cut it for my wife... :). Anyway, the new timer is a perfect replacement for our GE Model DRSR495EG5WW. The product that we received was a genuine GE renewal part and is doing the job just fine!Metal dial stripped after only a month of use.
