I bought two of these (and I am ordering two more). I use them to run the water to my porch pots and bonsai. This has really cut down on the time it takes to do my hand watering every day, and makes it easy to quickly give the bonsai another watering on very hot days. I read a lot of the reviews before I bought these; maybe the design has changed since some of those reviews were written, but I do not find it necessary to "prewind the spring", by turning the timer all the way and then back to the time desired, as some state. I run the bonsai water for 15 minutes and the porch pots for 30-60 minutes; just turn it to the time and it shuts off in pretty much that amount of time. I use pressure reducers, since I am using drip, and I put it on the outflow end of the timer, not between the faucet and timer. I don't know if that makes a difference but that setup works. I did not notice a reduction in flow, as is the case with some mechanical timers. The dial is big and the numbers are easy to read. My only wish is that the timers could be set for longer than 2 hours.Update: I just ordered the 12 pack. The price is great and after using the four I purchased last year, and not losing any of my Bonsai or potted plants to heat stress because I didn't have time to stand there watering everything by hand twice a day in July, I am putting these on all of my vegetable raised beds, plus the vineyard and berry patches (all on drip). Last year I kept forgetting to shut off the water to my beds after an hour or two and I would find the valve open a week later...Update to the update: All 12 of the new ones I ordered work perfectly; the timers shut off at the right time and none leak. So that out of 16 that I have purchased so far all 16 work well. At the bulk pricing these are a bargain and well worth the investment. I added them throughout my vegetable beds, all which run on drip emitters. I only wish there was an 8 hour version - last night, after going to bed, I remembered I forgot to turn off the orchard irrigation. Grrr.I make sure that these are all removed and put away in the winter to avoid the potential for damage by freezing.
