The Orbit Mechanical Hose timer works just like an egg timer, making it one of the quickest and easiest to use. I have purchased 14 of these. I initially bought two to try out in early 2019 and after a year of reliable use I purchased a box of 12 additional timers in early 2020 (keep checking back for better pricing on a box of 12 - they were very reasonable then). I use them for about 6 month each year. I have multiple raised vegetable beds, plus potted plants and a large bonsai collection. These timers have been easy to use and reliable. None have leaked or failed to turn off on time. They do reduce water flow a little bit, so maybe not the best choice for high volume sprinklers (my water is on a well and runs between 40 and 60 psi). I use them for drip systems up to 2gpm per timer. I drain them and put them away indoors in the winter to prevent freeze damage. Otherwise they are exposed to weather and full sun. The only negative is that the dial has a rubberized edge which has become sticky over time, but I can live with that if they keep working well. I just put them out again for an early dry season and all 14 work great.
