This device has protected our chickens well. I wish I'd bought one when we first started keeping hens instead of getting up early every morning to let them out or risking an open door while we were on vacation. It seems expensive, but it is worth the money! We have fox who like to visit at night, but they cannot harass our chickens (who wind up getting hurt trying to defend themselves through the hardware cloth of their run) if they're snugly sleeping in the coop. This door opener and some lights on timers have been game changers.The opener works on a timer, based on the amount of light, or a combination of both, which is great for changing seasons. I've currently only been using the timer as it's a breeze to adjust, but I will probably switch to the lumen/timer combination as the seasons change.The particular model I received had flimsy buttons, which my husband and I noticed immediately, but everything seemed to be working fine. However, after about six weeks of use one of the rubbery button fronts got jammed inside the framework, and the door wouldn't open. I was past the return date with Amazon, so I contacted Chicken Guard directly. I got a person immediately, who knew all about the issue. It turns out that they've solved the problem but some of the faulty devices were/are being sold. They sent me a new one, no questions asked, and it arrived within two days from the UK. The new device looks identical but has MUCH sturdier buttons. We've installed it and everything seems great. The customer service was outstanding. I had a UPS tracking number within about an hour of my phone call to the company.I do not think the broken product is the seller's fault. I contacted them about my issue/its resolution and got a very prompt and apologetic response assuring me they'd do everything to make sure I had a good experience. I do recommend that customers either ensure that they're getting an improved opener with the good buttons or order through the company directly. The prices are nearly the same and the customer service is top notch.
