After I installed this switch, I tested by turning it on and then by turning it off counterclockwise (as the instructions said could be done). However, the hemispherical hole on the knob quickly became rounded by moving it back and forth, so that it would no longer turn the spindle. My old switch had a hemispherical metal insert in the knob's hole to prevent this. Amazon promptly sent a replacement, but I'm not sure how long it will last. Would recommend getting a timer with a better knob design.
