I don't understand the many negative reviews. I can only assume many don't bother reading the programming instructions. These were bought to replace an ancient intermatic digital timer that lasted 30+ years. Programming one is not instinctual but is very simple if the directions are carefully followed. It"a anyone's guess whether these timers' lifespan will approach that of the long lived predecessor.
