This timer works great for me. It replaced an Intermatic T104 40 Amp timer that I was using for a few house lights. The Intermatic has been going for 20+ years - and still works - but it's loud and was annoying me. Plus the analog dial was inaccurate and I had to tweak it every now and then.Maybe this will last long, maybe it won't - I can switch this out 6 times and it's still cheaper then the Intermatic. Also, this won't handle high current things which the Intermatic can - I wasn't using it for that purpose anyway - so the 16A that this can handle is enough for me. This doesn't handle DST automatically either, but changing the time is easy enough. The instructions are indeed cryptic as others have mentioned. I figured out the wiring diagram after staring at it for a few minutes (I'm not particularly adept at electronics but have a little understanding of things). Type A worked for me - Hot to terminal one - Jumper from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3, Neutral on Terminal 2, Load on terminal 4.Anyway, very happy with this. Especially the silence.
