Works well. Also very unobtrusive; I still haven't gotten used to the lack of the clunky Intermatic timer on the wall that this replaced and it is FAR less expensive. The Intermatic was on a security light, and failed after only two or three years of light (pardon the pun) use. This digital timer is also far more flexible in its capabilities that the Intermatic and would have been so useful while I was still commuting because this one can be programmed for a week with (almost too) many options for each day whereas the Intermatic was a 24-hour timer. If you lived far enough north so that two members of the household both left and returned, at separate times, in the dark, a security light could be programmed to go on and off for each of them, every time, only for the days they worked, and still have some options left.As a replacement, very easy to install: just unscrew the wire nuts on your old timer and re-screw them to the clearly-labeled leads on this one (I even cheated and didn't cut off power at the circuit breaker - not recommended but I was very cautious). As to a new installation, if you're an electrical amateur like me, I would suggest hiring an electrician, although the instructions seem to be clear.
