It came to my door still powered. Good sign. I plugged it in for more than the minimum recommended time of 3.5 hrs to charge its internal battery. I went from the manual intermec to this one just because of the power back up feature. It has 8 settings of on off on off etc. To program is pretty easy once you mess with it. it doesn't give you any confirmation of your settings, once you put in the time for on or off thats it. it will stay on that screen till you hit time or another function to program. Just make sure the word auto is on if you want your time schedule to be cycled. I use this to cycle my modem and router everyday so I put my off time in the first off slot and the on time in the second on slot eg. ON: 00:00 OFF: 4:00am ON:4:30am OFF:00:00 ON: 00:00 etc it is set for an item in the off state to be turned on and off. I had to skip the first ON time slot to have it operate an always on to be cycled off and on.After two weeks it is still working perfectly. only time will tell if these hold up. I am getting a second one to power my lamp on in the morning to wake me up and turn it off at my usual leave time. Beats the BEEP BEEP BEEP still using that as a back up but prefer the light method.
